BigSpy: Widest Coverage, But Does Width Equal Depth?

BigSpy's pitch is simple: cover everything. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Unity, AdMob, Yahoo — nine-plus ad networks under one roof. For sheer breadth of ad coverage, no tool on the market touches it.

But coverage and usefulness are not the same thing. A tool that shows you ads from nine platforms but cannot tell you whether the business behind those ads is profitable is like having nine TV channels — all showing static.

What Is BigSpy?

BigSpy is a multi-platform ad spy tool that monitors advertising across the widest range of networks in the industry. The tool captures active ads from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and several mobile ad networks, building a searchable database of hundreds of millions of creatives.

Users can filter by platform, country, ad format, CTA type, engagement level, and date range. Pricing ranges from a limited free plan to $9/month (Basic), $99/month (Pro), and $399/month (Enterprise).

What BigSpy Does Well

1. Unmatched platform coverage. Nine-plus ad networks. If an ad runs anywhere on the internet, BigSpy probably has it in its database.

2. The free tier lets you explore. BigSpy's free plan is limited but functional enough to test the interface and run basic searches.

3. Solid creative inspiration tool. If your goal is to browse thousands of ads across platforms to spark ideas for your own creatives, BigSpy delivers volume.

4. Good for spotting cross-platform trends. You can spot when a product or creative style is trending across multiple platforms simultaneously.

Where BigSpy Falls Short

1. Interface speed is a persistent issue. This is the most common complaint in user reviews. The interface can feel sluggish, and navigating large result sets becomes frustrating.

2. No real ad spend data. BigSpy relies on engagement metrics as a proxy for ad performance. You see likes and shares — not the actual budget an advertiser committed.

3. No Shopify store analytics. BigSpy shows ads. It does not analyze the stores behind them. No traffic data, no revenue estimates, no best-seller identification.

4. Data accuracy has been questioned. Multiple user reports suggest that engagement numbers and ad dates can be inconsistent, particularly for smaller platforms.

Why Trendtrack Fills the Gap

Trendtrack shop database

BigSpy gives you width. Trendtrack gives you depth. Instead of showing you ads from nine platforms with surface-level metrics, Trendtrack shows you what is happening inside over 1 million top-selling stores — the actual traffic, the real best-sellers, the exact tech stack. And for EU/UK markets, it shows the real advertising spend behind campaigns.

"BigSpy has every ad on the internet. The problem is I still did not know which ones were profitable. Trendtrack answered that question in my first session." — Karli, e-commerce entrepreneur

"It’s literally my unfair advantage in ecom. No other tool shows this level of detail on shops and ads." — Lisa, 8-figure ecom brand owner

The Bottom Line

BigSpy is useful for one thing: browsing a massive volume of ads across many platforms for creative inspiration. If that is all you need — a mood board of competitor creatives — it works.

But ad spy tools that only show you ads are solving a 2020 problem. In 2026, the competitive advantage belongs to operators who understand the business behind the ad. Trendtrack was built to answer those questions. BigSpy was not.

BigSpy has the most ads but the interface drives me insane. Slow searches, inconsistent data. Trendtrack is faster and the store analytics are on a completely different level.

I used BigSpy for creative inspiration and it’s decent for that. But for actual product research decisions I need store-level data and real spend numbers.

The 9-platform coverage sounds impressive until you realize none of those platforms come with spend data or store analytics. Width without depth.

BigSpy’s data accuracy issues were the final straw for me. When you’re making sourcing decisions based on ad data, you need that data to be right.
